A piece of art in a cup
You are at the right place to discover snackable content about my passion for coffee.

Coffee has a very special place in my heart – drinking coffee has become more than just a habit, it is a journey of unlocking all senses, constantly looking for the best coffee and learning how to master the perfect espresso shot.
The Espresso Machine
ECM Mechanika V Slim
with Eureka Mignon Specialita
I am very glad that I invested in this espresso coffee machine just based on a recommendation of a colleague. I am using it everyday to extract delicious espresso for my morning routine. ECM is known for its high quality espresso machines made by German engineering.
The Caffeine
Kaffeemacher
Dreispitz
Dreispitz is one of the first espresso beans that I bought for making coffee at home. Not too bitter, nice crema and very reliable. I always come back to them every once in a while. Kaffeemacher excites with espresso blends roasted locally in Münchenstein and offers many home barista courses where you can also bring your own espresso machine. I personally learned everything from their YouTube channel.
La Columbiana
Oro Fino und Columbiana
Another local business with a shop right at the Basel train station that I like to visit and get recommendations by the owner himself. The coffee is very aromatic and lovely. Many restaurants and cafés in Basel are serving La Columbiana coffee.
Black and Blaze
Premium
I discovered Black and Blaze on a quick break at the Pelikanbar in Zurich. The crema is incredible and I love how it tastes so sweet and has no bitterness at all. I really like to drink this one as an espresso only and enjoy the rich and complex aromatics. It is definitely one of the more expensive coffee beans but worth a try!
Other coffee specialities
Vietnamese Iced Coffee with Trung Nguyen Coffee
Gourmet Blend
“Cà Phê Sữa Dà” is made with a filter called “phin” and takes a few minutes for the coffee to brew – similar to the French press. Vietnamese ground coffee is known to be very strong and extremely flavourful. It has a very pleasant sweet, almost caramel-like flavour when mixed with sweetened condensed milk and lots of ice. Every coffee enthusiast I know that has been to Vietnam keeps telling me how addicting this discovery was.
Coffee and phin available at your local asian store or in any good Vietnamese restaurant
Iced Matcha Latte
«Great matcha doesn’t taste bitter»
Matcha is my newest addition to my coffee bar in 2024. I am glad, I kept on trying new coffee shops that sell matcha, even though we only have OK matchas in Switzerland. I eventually ordered ceremonial grade matcha powder directly from Japan which took me to a new level of matcha experience. Since then, I convinced many of my colleagues to switch to matcha too. It not only tastes great on ice but has a better long lasting effect than coffee. And it looks very nice in a glas whith iced oat milk.
My favourite matcha powder is the Sayaka from Ippodo.
You can also get great and cheap matcha like the Aoarashi from Marukyu Koyamaen.
